Review | The One That Got Away | A.J. Pine

How far will one man go for the woman he's loved since high school?

Jamie Kingston has been Brynn Chandler's best friend since middle school. Only once was their friendship tested—when Brynn gave Jamie a single kiss. Since then, they've had an unspoken agreement never to cross that line again, and she’s ready to let go of the past and move on.

But Jamie has loved Brynn for as long as he can remember, and now that he's ready to tell her, she has her sights set on someone else. Knowing this is his last chance, he asks Brynn to go on a two-week road trip. But their time alone brings old hurts to the surface, and Brynn has to decide if the one that got away lies at the end of the journey or if he's been by her side all along.

In fact it's 4,5 Stars for this little and delicious book. Stories like this one make me believe that true love still exists. It's all fiction, of course, but it made me dream, made me sigh many, many times and it made me laugh.
Brynn  and Jamie have been best friends since middle school, and since the very first time I "saw" them together I thought "Hum.... these two definitely have something goin on... let the show begins, lol". And so it happened. It was really a big show seeing how they dodge their own feelings for each other all the freaking time! Com' on dudes! open your eyes already! :D
The fact is that A.J. Pine writes with passion and simplicity. It's makes us want to enter on the book and take an active part of the characters lives, the characters thoughts and decisions. I wish I could be Annie (Brynn's and Jamie's (best)friend) and help those two out on solving their issues. Be the one who told them that they are just perfect for one another, although all the flaws and disagreements. But I'm not, and I content myself by keeping track on what happens between Jamie and Brynn.
Let's know a little more about Brynn?
She is awesome! She's the type of girl/woman that all men should meet. Beautiful, but not exaggeratedly, in a way that all women who are reading the book do not feel bad about themselves. A.J. Pine was able to create a character that could be any one of us. Clumsy when she's nervous and intense when she knows what she really wants. She managed to captivate me from the first page, when she was a young teenager with hormones to jump for just one kiss the boy she wanted more than a year. And... she even wears glasses, because whithout them she is blind as a bat! Can you imagine that?! :D She's really something!! She's going to stay in mey heart for a long time ;)
What about Jamie?! Well... Jamie is the ultimate boyfriend/best friend material! He's kind, calm, intense and sexy in a natural kind of way. It's not like he's making a huge effort on being sexy... he just is! And he was always there when Brynn needed, no matter what, he would always be by her side, even if it meant that he had to be only her best friend. For him, since and for ten years it was always been about Brynn. However, neither he nor she realized that they were meant to be more than best friends forever and ever.
It's those feelings brewed between best friends for a decade that are the main recipe for the fireworks that we can feel exploding on this story.
The idea of a road trip to Los Angeles is absolutly delicious, because it's on these kind of interaction (two bombs about to explode in a truck for about two weeks? Good God help us all) that can put all the feelings outside. And the musical mentions? Loved it! I really love a book that is filled by music. Oh... and I could I forget the beer? I'm kind of like Brynn when it comes to beer! :D

Loved many many quotes that they said along the book (they were so many that I lost count) and loved how they figured out how to come clean to one another after their first kiss ten years ago. With a kiss also! It was all that was needed to rekindle the flame between them.
Could it be more intense and explosive? Come on! It's the perfect couple with all their imperfections and issues that, you can be sure, they will solve along the road trip (or will they creat even more issues?) I guess you'll have to read it when this amazing love story (and hot) comes out ;)
The sex scenes? OMG! I could really imagine all that they were doing and feeling... all that desire and love buried for all those years? Well... it really was bombastic without being dirty and messy. It was hot and steamy! Way to go A.J. Pine. Keep up with the good work! :D

Guess I'll have to wait until the second book of the "Kingston Ale House" serie! Come quickly, please!!!
