As always I will try my best to be as sincere as possible on my reading this book.
I have to start by saying that, even though it took a long time to finish reading this story, this delay was not due to the quality of the story but the unexpected that I have been appearing over the days.
This is the third volume in the series "Renegade Royals". Bastard Sons of Dukes and Princes of England. This is the story of William Endicott, a war hero that is returnig to his homeland and Duke of York bastard son. However, he is not just a military. He is also a real spy who reports to special services of England and to his father.
I have to be as sincere as possible and say that the beginning of the book did not grab me right away. Perhaps by not having read the first two books. Although it is a book that can be read independently, is a little more workfull and we have to read with twice the attention to try to understand in fact, where all the characters appeared.
Vanessa Kelly adopts a lightweight written, easy to understand despite being a history passed in the 19th century, right at the beginning.
The characters are fun and with a degree of complicity between them very strong.
Will and Evie (Evelyn) have been friends since forever. Will goes to war when they were in love, or at least Evie like to think so because she was totally and completely in love with him.
Some (many) years have passed and Will never had contact with Evie again. When he reappears in her life, he is no longer an inexperienced boy, but a man.
Obviously Evie feels betrayed and excluded from his life since he just walked away and never gave news. The sweet and innocent Evie was not that easy to delight and when they meet again she can not forget all the pain he made her go through.
Apart from all that romantic involvement between Will and Evie, there is the attempted murder that Will have to try and unravel whether or not she is involved. As the years gone by, and without suitors in sight, Evie becomes Michael Beaumont friend and it is this character that is being distrust of target. Everything points to Michael being the "ringleader" of everything.
Will he get hold of their involvement with Evie and find out if Michael is even involved in the plot?
Of course, but it will not be easy. It is a story full of intrigue and mystery that grabs us completely.
Loved the relationship between Evie and her twin sister. I really enjoyed the character that is Will's partner, his cousin Alastair "Alec" Gilbride. He is funny, clever and very observer. Can not wait to read Alec's story.
Really recommend you in reading this *delicious* story.

Como sempre eu vou tentar ao máximo ser o mais sincera possível sobre a minha leitura a este livro.
Tenho de começar por dizer que, embora tenha levado muito tempo para acabar de ler esta história, esse atraso não se deveu à qualidade da história e sim a imprevistos que me foram aparecendo ao longo dos dias.
Este é o terceiro volume da série "Renegade Royals". Filhos bastardos de Duques e Príncipes de Inglaterra. Esta é a história de William Endicott, um herói de guerra recém-chegado à sua terra Natal. No entanto, ele não é apenas um militar. É também um espião real que presta contas aos Serviços Especiais da Inglaterra.
Tenho de ser o mais sincera possível e dizer que o início do livro não me agarrou de imediato. Talvez pelo facto de não ter lido os dois volumes anteriores. Apesar de ser um livro que se pode ler independentemente dos outros da série, é um pouco mais trabalhoso e temos de ler com o dobro da atenção para tentar perceber de facto, de onde apareceram todas as personagens.
Vanessa Kelly adopta uma escrita leve, fácil de perceber, apesar de ser uma história passada no século XIX, mesmo no seu início. As personagens são divertidas e com um grau de cumplicidade entre elas muito forte.
Will e Evie (Evelyn) conhecem-se desde muito novos e antes de Will partir para a guerra eram também namorados, ou pelo menos Evie gostava de pensar assim pois estava total e completamente apaixonada por ele.
Alguns (muitos) anos passaram e Will nunca mais teve contato com ela. Quando reaparece na vida dela já não é um rapaz inexperiente e sim um homem feito, com tudo o que isso implica.
Obviamente que Evie sente-se traída e excluída da vida dele uma vez que ele simplesmente foi -se embora e nunca mais deu noticias. A doce e inocente Evie já não era assim tão fácil de encantar e quando se reencontram ela não consegue esquecer toda a dor que ele a fez sentir.
À parte de tudo esse envolvimento romântico entre Will e Evie, existe a tal tentativa de assassinato que Will tem de desvendar e tentar saber se ela está ou não envolvida. Com os anos a passar e sem ter pretendentes à vista, Evie torna-se amiga de Michael Beaumont e é esta personagem que está a ser alvo de desconfianças. Tudo aponta para que seja Michael o "cabecilha" de tudo.
Será que ele vai conseguir distanciar-se do seu envolvimento com Evie e descobrir se Michael está mesmo envolvido na conspiração?
Obviamente, mas fácil não será. É uma história repleta de intriga e mistério que nos agrra completamente.
Adorei a relação de Evie com a irmã gémea. Gostei imenso da personagem que acompanha Will durante toda a história, o seu primo Alastair "Alec" Gilbride. É divertido, inteligente e muito observador. Mal posso esperar para ler a história dele.
Recomendo a leitura deste livro *delicioso*.
